Between January and September 2013, six post-doctoral intern researchers led individual AHRC-funded projects across the eight University of Cambridge Museums and the University Botanic Garden. The six projects were part of the Connecting with Collections initiative which aimed to transform access to the exceptional collections and research resources of the University museums.
The six interns were:
Sebastian Falk - Whipple Museum of the History of Science
Aaron Jaffer - Fitzwilliam Museum
Pippa Lacey - Cambridge University Botanic Garden
Leena Rana - Fitzwilliam Museum
Lorna Richardson - Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology and Museum of Zoology
Rebecca Wade - Museum of Classical Archaeology
The Internships were mentored by Dr Alana Jelinek, AHRC creative fellow in Creative and Performing Arts, Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology.
On 27 September 2013 the six interns presented their research in a one day Symposium, exploring disciplinary approaches and the outcomes of the project. Dr Sam Alberti, Director of Museums and Archives at the Royal College of Surgeons of England gave the keynote address, presenting on Objects of Knowledge: Using Material Culture in Twentieth-Century Museums.
