Give them a \u2018crime scene\u2019 and skills to solve the crime.<\/h2>\n<p>Early one Saturday morning in August, we welcomed our budding scientists for Science Detectives, a full day of forensic fun.\u00a0 The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sites.hps.cam.ac.uk\/whipple\/\">Whipple Museum of the History of Science<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spri.cam.ac.uk\/museum\/\">Polar Museum<\/a>, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sedgwickmuseum.org\/\">Sedgwick Museum of Earth Sciences<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.museum.zoo.cam.ac.uk\/\">Museum of Zoology<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.museum.zoo.cam.ac.uk\/\">Botanic Garden<\/a> all ran sessions that honed the children\u2019s scientific skills in preparation for a forensic investigation at the Botanic Garden in the afternoon.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-9741\" fun.<\/p>\n<p>The morning was packed with workshops on:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Things which are very small: looking at botanic samples using historic and modern microscopes<\/p>\n<figure four different mammal skeletons<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 A game to match the bird to its footprint<\/p>\n<p>After spending the morning at the Museum of Zoology, we walked to the Botanic Garden for a quick lunch before heading in to the gardens to solve the mystery who poisoned Ali the Algae researcher after he announced his incredible new research in the field of botany and energy.<\/p>\n<figure All the staff involved worked hard to come up with engaging activities that used objects from across our collections.
