About the Session
Why, how and what do artists paint? Looking closely at just a few paintings, we explore how artists use line, shape, colour, texture and composition to express their ideas.
Duration: 2 hours
Session Format: The museum led session is scheduled for 2 hours and is delivered in the first 60 minutes of your booked slot. We recommend that schools use their second hour for follow-up time from the taught session, with any additional time spent with the related 'Into Action' recource.
For a self-led (DIY) session (DIY resource) we recommend you spend up to one hour delivering your do-it-yourself session, with any additional time spent with the related 'Into Action' resource. See also our Fact Sheets about Reading Paintings.
You can also book a studio workshop related with this theme.
