Explore the Garden’s glasshouse range after dark to join in with our night-time hunt for orchids! Discover amazing species from all around the world and learn about the clever adaptations of orchids, from their spongy, water-absorbing roots to their tiny dust-like seeds. With more orchid species than birds and mammals combined, this adventure is filled with wonders from the plant world! 

Explore the animal kingdom with stories and play. Discover animals that are awake at night and asleep in the day, and create an owl mask to take home with you.

This expert-led session is suitable for children aged 2-5. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

There are two sessions to choose from one at 10.30am and another at 11.30am. Both sessions are the same.

Go on an underwater safari around the Museum of Zoology finding amazing marine animals, handle real sea shells and hear stories about life in the sea.

Travel around the world in the Museum to find out how animals cope with the cold. Then settle down for some cosy stories and make your own hibernating hedgehog to take home with you.

We invite families with children who have additional sensory needs to join us for our Studio Sunday Relaxed Session. These quieter art making workshops aim to provide a comfortable creative experience at Kettle’s Yard.

In our Clore Learning Studio, participants can make art inspired by artworks and ideas at Kettle’s Yard, supported by artists and volunteers. No prior art experience is required.

Activities are designed for children ages 3–11 and we encourage parents and carers to create alongside their child.

No art experience needed — our friendly artists and volunteers will support you step-by-step. Children and adults of all ages are welcome to participate but Studio Sunday is most suitable for children between 3–11 years.

Whether you're a first-time visitor or a regular at the museum, our festive drawing activity is the perfect way to explore the galleries through the lens of your imagination and artistic skills.

Artist Rose Feather has created a playful design for you to use as you sketch, doodle, and interpret the exhibits in your own unique way!

This free, printed activity is available to collect from the Founder's and Courtyard Entrances between 21st December and 5th January
