    Physical Access
Visitors with restricted mobility should use the Courtyard Entrance, which provides street level access and is near to a lift to all floors.

Most areas in the Museum have flat or slightly sloping floors. There is seating throughout for visitors’ use. Staff are available in most rooms to help.

Not all staircases have continuous hand rails.

Wheelchairs are available for visitors’ use at the Courtyard Entrance.

    Visibility impairments
Large print information on exhibitions and displays is available in the galleries. Large print, Braille and tactile versions of signage and the Museum map are available at both entrances. Some rooms have glass doors.

    Hearing impairments
    Induction loops:
An induction loop is available at both entrances. Portable loops are available for talks and events if booked in advance.

    Acoustics:
The Museum has slightly echoing acoustics, due to hard surfaces and high ceilings.

    Assistance dogs
    are very welcome.

    Disabled parking
Parking is very limited. Disabled badge-holders can park in pay and display bays on Trumpington Street for as long as is needed, and on single/double yellow lines for up to three hours, unless there is a ‘no loading’ sign.

    Verbal Description and Touch Tours
Led by a member of the Museum’s Education Department, these ‘Making Sense’ tours combine the opportunity to touch selected objects on display with visual description. The tours can also include audio description of paintings. If there are specific objects or paintings that you would like to find out about, this can be discussed when arranging your tour.

To find out more, please contact the Outreach and Access Officer on 01223 764392 or email education@fitzmuseum.cam.ac.uk.
