For anyone new to gardening it can be a minefield navigating your way through all the information available to anyone new to gardening. On this short course aimed at complete novices, Ross and Sally will share their knowledge and experience to help you unravel this information and take you through some basic principles to help you ease your way into the wonderful world of gardening. They will provide basic hints and tips on a range of garden tasks such as seed sowing, planting, edging, and hoeing that will help you make the most of your newly discovered interest and help you tackle your own plot with increased confidence.

Sally Petitt started her horticultural career here in the Botanic Garden in 1988 as a Trainee Horticultural Technician, and is currently Head of Horticulture, a role in which she oversees the horticultural team and operations.  During her time at the Garden she has worked in many areas of the Garden and developed an extensive horticultural knowledge, and has also participated in botanical expeditions and capacity building projects, and currently serves on a number of horticultural committees.
