Cambridge Community Arts helps to build community, connections and confidence through creativity.  Offering arts based courses in the community in a safe, friendly environment.  To date, 700+ course places have been offered and participants benefit from increased confidence and improved mental health.

Courses are run in community centres led by professional artists and musicians, who inspire their learners with their passion and empower them uncover their own inner artists.

The Museum of Classical Archaeology is pleased to host an exhibition of work by learners undertaking the accredited photography course at Cambridge Community Arts for the third year running.

This year, the theme of from Out of Darkness into the Light: Take a Closer Look has emerged organically as the students began to select their images for this exhibition. Since September, the students on the course have been getting to grips with their cameras. As they experiment with light, composition and framing they have also been learning to take inspiration from other photographers, past and present. Each has developed their own unique interests, approach and style – and they are proud to share a few of their favourite images on public display in the Museum's atmospheric Cast Gallery.

The theme reflects not just the images on display here but also a growth in the confidence of these artists, who now invite you to take a closer look at their work.

The exhibition runs from 8 - 14 June and can be visited during museum opening hours: Tuesday - Friday (10am - 5pm) and on Saturday 8 June (10am - 1pm).
