Benjamina Efua Dadzie

Benjamina (BA Hons, MA) has a background in Archaeology, Anthropology and Museum Studies, with an interest in West African cultures, especially Akan and Yoruba, and how the past manifests in the present. In her current research, part of a doctoral research starting in 2022, she deals with the impact of missionary presence in 19th century Abeokuta (southwestern Nigeria), focusing on changes in identity and material culture.

In her role she supports the collections team to research, document and manage the Anthropology collection. Benjamina has previously worked at the British Institute in Eastern Africa, Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, and researched the collections of the Royal Albert Memorial Museum and Art Gallery, and Manchester Museum. She volunteers as Researcher for the digital archive The Nana Project, which archives the history of Ghana from the perspective of elders.
